Gearbox joining by industrial robotics guarantees optimal functioning
An extremely difficult component in the automotive industry is the gearbox, which is attached to the engine block during assembly of the unit. Only with an exact joining process of the engine and gearbox can the optimal functioning of the gearbox be guaranteed. A total of six cameras record the position of the drive disc and transmission shaft in order to position the transmission precisely in accordance with the two- and three-dimensional measured values. The perfect joining process is a first in the automotive industry. The engine and gearbox are joined together by a robot with torque monitoring.
The system is designed for the highest possible degree of automation and offers future-oriented workplace humanisation. The precision of the automatic assembly provides qualitative advantages in terms of the service life and noise development of the subsequent vehicle.
